If you are here and don’t bounce (which, in case you don’t know, is the term for what happens when you arrive at a website by mistake and immediately click on the back arrow), thank you.
I currently have five books for sale:
Red Line, second in the Pilot Error series, is the story of a retired aviation accident investigator who cannot resist the temptation to become involved once again, this time as a private crash detective hired to prove that a beautiful woman’s lover was murdered by his vengeful wife. Is it the lure or the allure that pries Nick out of retirement? It all begins with an article in American Vigilante, a fringe publication of little import. But the author doesn’t stop there, and publication of Airborne Justice catapults the name of Nick Phillips into the spotlight. Where did that killer disappear to, anyway? Available editions: Kindle and Paperback.
Pilot Error, a mystery/thriller about a tenacious aviation accident investigator who risks his life to follow a trail of conspiracy and airborne murder all the way into the highest levels of government. Nick Phillips has found evidence of pilot error often enough to expect it. But when a controversial political figure is killed in the crash of his private jet, the evidence suggests something far more disturbing. Available editions: Kindle, Paperback, Hardcover, and Audible
Book One of the series Wings On My Words, tales from the writer’s desk, the story of a personal writer’s journey from the seed of an idea to the decision to abandon legacy publishing and Go Indie. As any writer knows, the only true path to failure is to quit. Without perseverance and steadfast dedication to your vision of creating a good story well told, it will never happen. Available editions: Kindle and Paperback.
Book One of the series Words On My Wings, tales from the cockpit, the story of an aviator’s journey from the first hint of wanting to become a pilot to initial solo as a student in pilot training with the United States Air Force. Ride along with me in the early days as I transition from a little Cessna 150 to a T-37B. Available editions: Kindle and Paperback.
When I published Pilot Error, my marketing philosophy was to maximize the availability of my books in as many online stores as possible. This included Amazon, Barnes&Noble, iTunes, Smashwords, and the independent bookstore BooksOnBoard. Since that time, Amazon’s dominance has for all practical purposes been established. And in spite of being leery about the dangers of a monopoly becoming so powerful that it can dictate terms to authors because it’s the only game in town, I’ve been very impressed with the author’s services at both Kindle Direct Publishing (for eBooks) and CreateSpace (for print). From the very beginning of my venture into indie publishing, these entities at Amazon have been a pleasure to work with.
Based upon the experience of the last 2 1/2 years, I recently elected to remove my books from all but Amazon’s store, where eBook, paperback editions can be purchased, including signed copies ordered online or directly from the author.
Note: I’ve published a 2nd edition of Pilot Error with my imprint and interior formatting changes. Any links to the title will automatically direct to this new version. The previous edition will remain on the Amazon listings to support those customers who bought it, as well as the used book market. I have also published an Audible edition, as well as a Hardcover.
Note: Pilot Error and Red Line are enrolled in the Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) Select program, which provides authors the opportunity to run special promotions like offering a free eBook for a limited time, or participating in a Kindle Countdown Deal in which the reduced price of an eBook increases incrementally over time. In addition, both books are enrolled in Matchbook, which bundles a free eBook with the purchase of the print edition.
